Congress Slowly Embraces Vine
Six seconds makes for a pretty short sound bite, but Members of Congress are taking to Twitter’s Vine video app in greater numbers.
The Congressional Research Service has found 105 Vine accounts opened by Members as of the end of January — 82 in the House and 24 in the Senate.
Of those, only 63 have posted content — a total of 489 videos. Fifteen active users have posted only once. House Republicans have taken to the app the most, posting roughly two-thirds of Members’ videos.
Unlike Tweets, all videos posted to Vine are public by default. Considering all but eight Members have Twitter accounts, Representatives and Senators seem well aware of that fact.
