Welcome to Connectivity!
Welcome to Connectivity, CQ Roll Call’s new blog on issue advocacy and engagement. We’re launching this venture today to bring much-needed coverage to this vital and fast-changing aspect of political activism.
Launching this blog is a natural fit for us. CQ Roll Call has long been a provider of the best tools for managing advocacy campaigns — first with Capwiz and Knowlegis and more recently through our powerful new Engage product. Connectivity will draw upon that experience, the resources of the CQ Roll Call newsroom, and the knowledge of our editorial advisory board to identify best practices, new trends and the key players in the advocacy world. Through guest-authored posts, the blog also will provide professionals a place to share their know-how and gain insight from the larger advocacy community.
The very concept of issue advocacy is evolving. Technological breakthroughs, particularly through social media and mobile apps, have changed the ways decision makers gather information and interact with stakeholders and the general public. As advisory board chair and veteran campaigner Gerry Gunster writes in his post today, issue advocacy contains elements of traditional inside-the-Beltway industries – lobbying, advertising, communications – but it adds up to something greater than each separately. The ways that modern-day advocacy and engagement are done might very well revolutionize politics and issue campaigns within Washington and beyond. Connectivity will chart that revolution’s progress.
We’ve designed ways to stay in touch with Connectivity throughout your day on Twitter (@CQConnectivity) or through a daily email newsletter. Please sign up for the newsletter on the blog’s main page. In the future, we’ll also email invitations to Connectivity-sponsored events. If you’d like to get in touch with the blog’s editors, email us at email@example.com.
It’s our intention for Connectivity to become a place of conversation and collaboration. Please use the comments section of the blog to interact with authors and other readers.
A full roster of Connectivity’s advisory board, including professional bios and contact information, can be found off the link on the right rail of the blog’s main page. Advisory board members are thought leaders in advocacy and engagement from a variety of professional and political perspectives. You’ll find a link to more information about CQ Roll Call’s Engage platform off the main page as well.
Thanks again for checking us out. We hope to become a key part of your routine for staying informed in this vitally important field.
